I recently found that setting up a tripod and shotting random items around the house can be very fun and can yield surprising results. It seems to glorify an object if you drop out it's surroundings and just show it for what it is. This is a group of cowgirl coasters that my girlfriend I found recently after a short stay in the desert outside LA.
I strongly encourage any on to start shooting photos of random items around your house. It's a good way to explore values that you might not originally thought were there.
